There's nothing better than getting outside and cooking a steak over a fire. In this video, I flame-char a steak to perfection at my debris shelter, then serve it with sautéed mushrooms, mulled wine, and a few crunchies on top- dehydrated worms and grasshoppers. Not as bad as it sounds! I like to try new things and was inspired by my friend Ron Jacobs who likes unusual foods so much he hosts "Eat it or Not" parties twice a year. I've tried some pretty questionable things at those parties! Makes this look pretty tame. Anyways- hope you enjoy the video!

Not knockin bugs, i've had 'em but there's plenty of protein in steak. My lizard brain glows dim with convenience. You deserve many more subscribers. Sometimes.. heating neck of bottle forces cork out.
Hey, Brooke. Thanks for doing this, I'm a man who has struggled with depression, so I appreciate it.
I just ordered both the Larvets and Crick-ettes from your Amazon storefront. I spent some time in the Navy and visited a few Asian countries where I enjoyed the local street food. Things like chicken feet and monkey meat. But, I never ate any bugs. I've seen many videos of street food bug markets and have always been curious. Well, now I'm going to try it out. 😀
Girl..... I admire you ! I love watching you ! I look to you for guidance and inspiration and Id camp with you at the mouth of hell. I have loved each and every piece of film that you have put on YouTube ...the deer tracks ...the stunning water shots ...the cozy campfires . Your enthusiasm for life is wonderfully exciting !!! But ....the worms? The bugs? Oh , my dear ...absolutely not !! LOL NO WAY . 😘
The steak looked good, but i'll pass on worms and grasshoppers.
Good to see the Girls getting in on the whole show us your steak thing. And about time someone tagged Lilly, good on you for that.
Next time bring a bottle of Mescal with a gusano worm in the bottle. Drink the liquor down until you can get to the worm, then put it on the steak and cook it. Throw on some grubs, crickets, ants, or anything else handy. Finish drinking the Mescal and by the time your steak is ready, it won't matter to you what your steak tastes like.
Excellent video, topics & can never go wrong giving thanks for blessings. Ive skimmed through comments etc, Im curious about your boots. Are those 'gaiters' cause I think Ive seen a couple of different boots. Thank you and enjoy your channel. ✌💕🐶
Aww.. thanks for the Tag!! I will be cooking a steak. Will be doing some winter camping this January.. A steak is a perfect meal in the cold woods. Love the worms .. haha!! Cheers Girlfriend.. always enjoy your videos.
Very nice, not to interested in the bugs and worms but the steak looked awesome!😋 Yes, us girls, do love the guys in our lives, please be save and stay happy. Love all of your videos, never a boring moment❣😂😃
Enjoyed the video Brooke. Nice job on the fire and stupendous job on the cork. I always love the sound of a screech owl....eerie but somehow comforting. They are some cool little creatures. Thanks for accepting the challenge and prayers for those suffering from depression and mental illness.
It's great you did this video. I donated $20 to bbrfoundation.org in your name and Haze Outdoors
who started this movement. Thanks!
Those steaks looked awesome, btw. And it looked liked Daisy was all about steak and coyotes!
As usual, I enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.

I like your videos, but i have a big problem with hd 1080p60 video, and my pc is dificult to play your videos with hd 1080p60.
Can you please make video only with hd 1080p and not with hd 1080p60 because is dificult to play on my old pc.
I like that you brought the material you needed to start your fire with and your dog is so ready to eat, but don't want to eat the insects and I can't blame him/her. The steak sounds great though and would have me hungry for it also. Your multi-tool came in handy to open the wine bottle with and for other uses as well.
I don't drink coffee, but do keep chocolate mix in my backpack to drink when camping out to stay hydrated in the cold. I can't blame your dog for not wanting the worms and she is waiting on the steak instead. I could not believe you ruined the steak by putting the insects on it. That is sad about your friend and I hope he is doing better.
Hello from Oklahoma! There is something special about getting away and spending time in the woods with a dog and eating a steak, or dogs in my case. I don't know about the bugs though. Years ago I had a screech owl family living in a cedar tree right outside my front door when I lived in Nebraska. Sometimes it was hard to get any sleep because of all the racket they would make. Thanks for the videos. The wife and I Love'm! God Bless you and your family! Merry Christmas!!!

looks familiar i watched matthew posa with fluffy Monty yesterday with their new snow camping video now today there is you and Masy :) collie gang hehe i named my dwarfhamster Masy because she´s so fluffy too hope you don´t mind =)
You had me up to the point where you ate the worms! I don't think I would pass on the grasshoppers, but, unless I was actually starving, I do not think that I could knowingly eat worms of ANY kind! Sorry!
Thanks for posting Brook. Loved your red outfit and those super boots! Together with the mulled wine it seemed appropriately Christmassy!
I thought you might have been able to pull out the broken corkscrew and cork with the pliers on your letterman. Maisie is a beautiful dog, the steak looked good but you're braver than me eating mealworms and grass hoppers! We have just finished watching "I'm a Celebrity get me out of here" from Australia here in the UK where celebrities eat lots of weird and horrible things, you would do ok on that programme I think. Your comments about mental health were very pertinent. Best wishes.
A Swiss Army knife has a good corkscrew on it. It is interesting that at different times of life each blade on the SA knife is useful. Just as I get over the corkscrew years, they invent screw top wine bottles. Now days the scissors are my go to for cutting toe nails. Just thought I would share that with the group. Eating bugs is only for when you have to bug out.
I've had to handle a lot of those freeze dried worms when I worked for Amazon, and it's not fun. I thought people were buying them for their lizards. I would never be able to try them like you did. I don't like mushrooms either, lol.
When I read the title I thought it would be about you dropping the steak, therefore worms and grasshoppers. I wouldn’t eat anything that my dog wouldn’t eat. We should all take the time to sit back and relax to take inventory of our happiness. We cannot work on our mental health until we take the time to evaluate. And your right, dogs are good listeners. They can get you started on talking out loud about what is deep inside.
Well Brooke I love the idea of the wine and steak and mushrooms but.........um the worms and grasshoppers hmmmm I'd have to think on that one a bit. Lol. But it still was a Great video. 😀 Thanks for sharing.....
Sorry but I like my worms on the end of a fishing line.As to your steak, well you took care of the evidence.Did the waiter issue paper napkins or cloth? It makes a difference when it is time to leave a tip.Did all the silverware match?Just remember to severe left to right, and clean up is right to left.BTW, if you would like some live grasshoppers in Texas around mid August they are plentiful.Ken
I did a practice week in forensics....we took similar pictures..., the worms were alive and the bait was not a steak. But the pictures...very similar. So forgive me, but this vid was not very attractive to me. I would try these worms and I love steak...but for goodness sake, not together.
In my opinion most doctors are nothing more than glorified dope pushers. They have little to no interest in healing people, there's no profit in that when they can get people hooked on a grossly over priced pill for the rest of their lives, plus additional pills to deal with the horrible side effects of the first ones. They push whatever pill the big pharma rep tells them to, which ever pill they get the biggest kickback from. Doctor's offices are production lines running as many people through a day as possible, writing as many prescriptions per day as they can. I did more than my fair share of every drug I could get my hands on in my younger years. But it was doctor's pills that convinced me that "drugs are bad". The only pills I've taken in over 35 years are aspirin and penicillin a few times when I had bad teeth. I haven't been to a doctor since 1989, and don't plan on going to one for another 30 or more years. Even going to the dentist I refuse their prescriptions for pain pills, I've even had root canals without novocaine shots. I've had several friends murdered by doctors (ya I said it). Synthetic heroin makes your brain "forget" to tell you to breath. The "official" cause of death is always "cardiac arrest". Drugs are bad.
The internet is a sea of valuable information of all accumulated human knowledge where we can delve into any subject known to man and learn every single detail about it without leaving our bedrooms. If used properly, we can all become nuclear physicists and create a Utopia of quantum power where the monetary system becomes void because we do have all the knowledge and technology as humans to satisfy all our human needs while preserving the planet’s natural resources and without any wars. It’s all there at our fingertips. But you’re idiots. We are all idiots.
As hip-hop remains a staple in our society, we continue to appreciate the artists behind this broad genre of music. While Biggie and Tupac represent the best of hip-hop excellence from both coasts, we also remember these two as humans beings, just like the rest of us. With that comes personality, charm, and, of course, a good sense-of-humor.
Today, with the ever-changing nuances of technology and the Internet, rappers can express themselves and their senses of humor in ways far beyond that their music. Whether it’s a GIF, a tweet, a meme, a Snapchat — there’s never a bad time to insert comedy into any given situation. When it comes to music videos, Lil Dicky sets the bar high with “$ave Dat Money,” which clocks in at over 84 million views and counting. Aside from his undeniable talent behind the mic, LD effortlessly reveals a career in comedy is at his fingertips.
