WinAutomation Tutorials - Triggers [Updated]

03:13
Hello and welcome to this tutorial on the Triggers functionality of WinAutomation. Instead of using Schedules that we discussed in a previous video, with WinAutomation you can set a process to execute only if a particular event occurs. For example, let’s say that a process reads a particular database for records upon receipt of an email. The method to invoke the process in this case, is an email monitor trigger. The triggering methods of a process can vary. Click on the “Triggers” tab in the WinAutomation Console and then on the “New” button to add a new trigger, you will see the Triggers that WinAutomation supports. First, there is the “file monitor trigger”. A file monitor trigger starts a process once the selected event occurs in the selected folder or even a subfolder if you select that option. For example, you can choose to search the Desktop for any .txt files that have been changed or deleted. For now, exclude the info.txt from being monitored. Just like in Schedules, in all triggers, you can set a custom description explaining the purpose. Next, you need to specify the process to which you want to apply this trigger on. As you can see, the trigger has been set and enabled. Another handy way to invoke a process is the Hotkey trigger. Using the hotkey trigger, you can set a particular keyboard combination to start the process. For this example, set the “Alt + I” key combination to invoke the Generate ID process. Navigating to the processes tab, you can see the Trigger Symbol next to the “Generate ID” process and by right clicking on it you can show the assigned triggers. The next available trigger, is the “Idle Monitor Trigger” which will trigger a process once a specific time has elapsed – in this case 10 minutes – during which there was no user activity on the system. In the example mentioned in the beginning of the video, a process that queries a database, executes only upon receiving an email. For this, you will need to use the “email monitor trigger”. The “email monitor trigger” requires you to set the Imap Server and port number, as well as your login credentials, username and password, as well as the properties of the incoming email, like subject, to and from fields, etc. For example, the trigger can be set to start a process when an email containing the subject “Database Population Completed” is received. WinAutomation checks for that email every 5 minutes, a value that you can change at will. The “Ping Monitor Trigger” allows you to check if a connection to a particular host disrupts and triggers a process. You can specify the periodicity of each communication attempt. With WinAutomation, you can also monitor a Windows Service behavior and trigger a process once this is started, stopped or paused. Similarly, a Process Monitor trigger would invoke a process when a Process Starts or Terminates.

Sql triggers tutorial in hindi

08:51
What is a Trigger : A trigger is a special kind of a store procedure that executes in response to certain action on the table like insertion, deletion or updation of data. It is a database object which is bound to a table and is executed automatically. Types Of Triggers 1. After Triggers (For Triggers) : After Insert, After Update, After Delete 2. Instead Of Triggers CREATE TABLE tblemployee(Emp_ID INT Identity,Emp_name Varchar(100),Emp_Sal Decimal (10,2)) INSERT INTO tblemployee VALUES ('Anand',15000); INSERT INTO tblemployee VALUES ('Neha',12400); INSERT INTO tblemployee VALUES ('Sohan',11500); INSERT INTO tblemployee VALUES ('Vijay',15500); INSERT INTO tblemployee VALUES ('Sapna',14000); I will be creating an AFTER INSERT TRIGGER which will insert the rows inserted into the table into another log table. The main purpose of this log table is to record the changes in the main table. Now, create the log table as:- CREATE TABLE Employee_Log (Emp_ID int,Emp_name varchar(100),Emp_Sal decimal (10,2),Log_Action varchar(100),log_Timestamp datetime) (a) After Insert Trigger This trigger is fired after an INSERT on the table. Let’s create the trigger as: CREATE TRIGGER trgAfterInsert ON tblemployee After INSERT AS declare @empid int declare @empname varchar(100) declare @empsal decimal(10,2) declare @log_action varchar(100) select @empid=i.Emp_ID, @empname=i.Emp_Name, @empsal=i.Emp_Sal from inserted i; set @log_action='Inserted Record -- After Insert Trigger.'; insert into Employee_log (Emp_ID,Emp_Name,Emp_Sal,Log_Action,Log_Timestamp) values(@empid,@empname,@empsal,@log_action,getdate()); PRINT 'AFTER INSERT trigger fired.' GO The CREATE TRIGGER statement is used to create the trigger. THE ON clause specifies the table name on which the trigger is to be attached. The after INSERT specifies that this is an AFTER INSERT trigger. In the trigger body, table named inserted has been used. This table is a logical table and contains the row that has been inserted. I have selected the fields from the logical inserted table from the row that has been inserted into different variables, and finally inserted those values into the log table. To see the newly created trigger in action, lets insert a row into the main table as: insert into tblemployee values('Ram',10500); Now, a record has been inserted into the tblemployee table. The AFTER INSERT trigger attached tothis table has inserted the record into the Employee_Log as: 6 Ram 10500.00 Inserted Record -- After Insert Trigger. 2016-10-10 08:28:00.500 (b) AFTER UPDATE Trigger This trigger is fired after an update on the table. Let’s create the trigger as: CREATE TRIGGER trgAfterUpdate ON tblemployee After UPDATE AS declare @empid int; declare @empname varchar(100); declare @empsal decimal(10,2); declare @log_action varchar(100); select @empid=i.Emp_ID, select @empname=i.Emp_Name, select @empsal=i.Emp_Sal from inserted i; if update(Emp_Name) set @alog_action='Updated Record -- After Update Trigger.'; if update(Emp_Sal) set @log_action='Updated Record -- After Update Trigger.'; insert into Employee_Log(Emp_ID,Emp_Name,Emp_Sal,Log_Action,Log_Timestamp) values(@empid,@empname,@empsal,@log_action,getdate()); PRINT 'AFTER UPDATE Trigger fired.' GO The AFTER UPDATE Trigger is created in which the updated record is inserted into the log table. There is no logical table updated like the logical table inserted. We can obtain the updated value of a field from theupdate(column_name) function. In our trigger, we have used, if update(Emp_Name) to check if the column Emp_Name has been updated. We have similarly checked the column Emp_Sal for an update. Let’s update a record column and see what happens. update tblemployee set Emp_Sal=15000 where Emp_ID=6 This inserts the row into the audit table as: 6 Ram 15000.00 Updated Record -- After Update Trigger. 2016-10-10 08:28:00.500 (c) AFTER DELETE Trigger This trigger is fired after a delete on the table. Let’s create the trigger as: CREATE TRIGGER trgAfterDelete ON tblemployee AFTER DELETE AS declare @empid int; declare @empname varchar(100); declare @empsal decimal(10,2); declare @log_action varchar(100); select @empid=d.Emp_ID, @empname=d.Emp_Name, select @empsal=d.Emp_Sal from deleted d; set @log_action='Deleted -- After Delete Trigger.'; insert into Employee_log (Emp_ID,Emp_Name,Emp_Sal,Log_Action,Log_Timestamp) values(@empid,@empname,@empsal,@Log_action,getdate()); PRINT 'AFTER DELETE TRIGGER fired.' GO In this trigger, the deleted record’s data is picked from the logical deleted table and inserted into the Log table. Let’s fire a delete on the main table. A record has been inserted into the audit table as: 6 Ram 15000.00 Deleted -- After Delete Trigger. 2016-10-10 08:28:00.500 http://www.libitsolutions.com

Check Last Modified DateTime for An Object (Table,Stored Procedure,Trigger etc.) in SQL Server

04:23
We as SQL Server developers send our DDL Scripts ( Add New Column, Drop some column from table, or Alter Stored Procedure) to DBA. After deployment we verify those changes and sometime it happens that the changes are not done. Maybe DBA has missed one of the script to run. If we can get the last modified date for object ( Table,Stored Procedure, View etc) that can confirm the changes are done on given date. blog post link for scripts used in this video http://sqlage.blogspot.com/2014/01/tsql-how-to-check-when-object-table.html

The table data will not be affected, in other words if you want to insert or update the data of the table then you need to write it in the trigger using "inserted" or "deleted" virtual tables

DML triggers in sql server Part 43

17:45
In this video we will learn about triggers in sql serevr. There are 3 types of triggers 1. DML triggers 2. DDL triggers 3. Logon trigger DML triggers are fired automatically in response to DML events (INSERT, UPDATE & DELETE). DML triggers can be again classified into 2 types 1. After triggers (Sometimes called as FOR triggers) 2. Instead of triggers. After triggers, fires after the triggering action. The INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements, causes an after trigger to fire after the respective statements complete execution. INSTEAD of triggers, fires instead of the triggering action. The INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements, causes an INSTEAD OF trigger to fire INSTEAD OF the respective statement execution. PL/SQL: Mutating Triggers Part-2

08:41
In this tutorial, you'll learn... PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) is Oracle Corporation's procedural extension for SQL and the Oracle relational database. PL/SQL is available in Oracle Database (since version 7), TimesTen in-memory database (since version 11.2.1), and IBM DB2 (since version 9.7).[1] Oracle Corporation usually extends PL/SQL functionality with each successive release of the Oracle Database. PL/SQL includes procedural language elements such as conditions and loops. It allows declaration of constants and variables, procedures and functions, types and variables of those types, and triggers. It can handle exceptions (runtime errors). Arrays are supported involving the use of PL/SQL collections. Implementations from version 8 of Oracle Database onwards have included features associated with object-orientation. One can create PL/SQL units such as procedures, functions, packages, types, and triggers, which are stored in the database for reuse by applications that use any of the Oracle Database programmatic interfaces. PL/SQL works analogously to the embedded procedural languages associated with other relational databases. For example, Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server have Transact-SQL, PostgreSQL has PL/pgSQL (which emulates PL/SQL to an extent), and IBM DB2 includes SQL Procedural Language,[2] which conforms to the ISO SQL’s SQL/PSM standard. The designers of PL/SQL modeled its syntax on that of Ada. Both Ada and PL/SQL have Pascal as a common ancestor, and so PL/SQL also resembles Pascal in several aspects. However, the structure of a PL/SQL package does not resemble the basic Object Pascal program structure as implemented by a Borland Delphi or Free Pascal unit. Programmers can define public and private global data-types, constants and static variables in a PL/SQL package.[3] PL/SQL also allows for the definition of classes and instantiating these as objects in PL/SQL code. This resembles usage in object-oriented programming languages like Object Pascal, C++ and Java. PL/SQL refers to a class as an "Abstract Data Type" (ADT) or "User Defined Type" (UDT), and defines it as an Oracle SQL data-type as opposed to a PL/SQL user-defined type, allowing its use in both the Oracle SQL Engine and the Oracle PL/SQL engine. The constructor and methods of an Abstract Data Type are written in PL/SQL. The resulting Abstract Data Type can operate as an object class in PL/SQL. Such objects can also persist as column values in Oracle database tables. PL/SQL is fundamentally distinct from Transact-SQL, despite superficial similarities. Porting code from one to the other usually involves non-trivial work, not only due to the differences in the feature sets of the two languages,[4] but also due to the very significant differences in the way Oracle and SQL Server deal with concurrency and locking. There are software tools available that claim to facilitate porting including Oracle Translation Scratch Editor,[5] CEITON MSSQL/Oracle Compiler [6] and SwisSQL.[7] The StepSqlite product is a PL/SQL compiler for the popular small database SQLite. PL/SQL Program Unit A PL/SQL program unit is one of the following: PL/SQL anonymous block, procedure, function, package specification, package body, trigger, type specification, type body, library. Program units are the PL/SQL source code that is compiled, developed and ultimately executed on the database. The basic unit of a PL/SQL source program is the block, which groups together related declarations and statements. A PL/SQL block is defined by the keywords DECLARE, BEGIN, EXCEPTION, and END. These keywords divide the block into a declarative part, an executable part, and an exception-handling part. The declaration section is optional and may be used to define and initialize constants and variables. If a variable is not initialized then it defaults to NULL value. The optional exception-handling part is used to handle run time errors. Only the executable part is required. A block can have a label. Package Packages are groups of conceptually linked functions, procedures, variables, PL/SQL table and record TYPE statements, constants, cursors etc. The use of packages promotes re-use of code. Packages are composed of the package specification and an optional package body. The specification is the interface to the application; it declares the types, variables, constants, exceptions, cursors, and subprograms available. The body fully defines cursors and subprograms, and so implements the specification. Two advantages of packages are: Modular approach, encapsulation/hiding of business logic, security, performance improvement, re-usability. They support object-oriented programming features like function overloading and encapsulation. Using package variables one can declare session level (scoped) variables, since variables declared in the package specification have a session scope.

The table data will not be affected, in other words if you want to insert or update the data of the table then you need to write it in the trigger using "inserted" or "deleted" virtual tables Explained in Tamil

The Magic of SQL: Column Update Mystery

07:20
You use the update statement in SQL to modify existing values in a row. Normally you have to assign values to each column explicitly. In this video Chris updates the value in one column and also changes the value in another column - without any triggers in sight! For example, the following "UPDATE" query, updates a set of rows that matches the condition in the "WHERE" clause at the same time. Update tblProductSales Set UnitPrice = 50 where ProductId = 101 However, if there is ever a need to process the rows, on a row-by-row basis, then cursors are your choice. Cursors are very bad for performance, and should be avoided always. Most of the time, cursors can be very easily replaced using joins. There are different types of cursors in sql server as listed below. We will talk about the differences between these cursor types in a later video session. 1. Forward-Only 2. Static 3. Keyset 4. Dynamic Let us now look at a simple example of using sql server cursor to process one row at time. We will be using tblProducts and tblProductSales tables, for this example. On my machine, there are 400,000 records in tblProducts and 600,000 records in tblProductSales tables. If you want to learn about generating huge amounts of random test data, please watch Part - 61 in sql server video tutorial. The link is below. http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/videos?flow=grid&view=1 Cursor Example: Let us say, I want to update the UNITPRICE column in tblProductSales table, based on the following criteria 1. If the ProductName = 'Product - 55', Set Unit Price to 55 2. If the ProductName = 'Product - 65', Set Unit Price to 65 3. If the ProductName is like 'Product - 100%', Set Unit Price to 1000 For the SQL code samples used in the demo please visit my blog at the following link http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/01/cursors-in-sql-server-part-63.html The cursor will loop thru each row in tblProductSales table. As there are 600,000 rows, to be processed on a row-by-row basis, it takes around 40 to 45 seconds on my machine. We can achieve this very easily using a join, and this will significantly increase the performance. We will discuss about this in our next video session. To check if the rows have been correctly updated, please use the following query. Select Name, UnitPrice from tblProducts join tblProductSales on tblProducts.Id = tblProductSales.ProductId where (Name='Product - 55' or Name='Product - 65' or Name like 'Product - 100%')

Oracle SQL Tutorial 13 - How to Add Column Constraints (Attributes)

05:55
So far, we have this table declaration: CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR(50 CHAR) first_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR), last_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) We can run this command see that it works. As we are learning though, we are going to want to be able to recreate our table with different settings and such, but if you try to run this command, it will complain that the table already exists. So we first need to delete this table before we start editing settings. When we get more experienced, we will learn about ways to edit the structure of a table that already exists. To fix this, we can get rid of the table using the DROP TABLE command: DROP TABLE users You can run this every time if you need to practice by adding a semicolon after it. This is how you can tell Oracle that you are putting in another command after it. This is known as a delimiter. When you run the script, it is going to run both commands. Now we can go through and reconsider our table structure. This is fine for starting out because we don't have any important data in our database, but once your database is in production you are not going to want to just drop tables. In the last video we discussed different constraints that you can apply to columns in a database table, but how do you actually apply these when you are creating a table? The first way you define constraints is to put them right after the column in your CREATE TABLE statement. CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL ) When we define constraints this way, we usually say we are adding column attributes. If you have two constraints you want to add, you just put one after the other with spaces in between. There is no particular order that is required. CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL UNIQUE ) In this situation we have already given the column the NOT NULL and UNIQUE attributes, so we should consider making this a primary key: CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) PRIMARY KEY ) As you can see, adding column attributes is super easy. We can add a default like this: CREATE TABLE users( username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) PRIMARY KEY, account_balance NUMBER DEFAULT 0 ) Note that now we need the comma after the first row. There are a few constraints we did not talk go through an example, specifically foreign keys and check constraints. We will be adding these constraints to our database in future videos. In the mean time, I have a thought for you… Many people prefer to name their column constraints. That way, we can refer to certain constraints by name. For example, we might have a primary key constraint that could be named users_pk. The way we are creating these constraints does not allow for this feature, so in the next video we are going to be discussing different ways to create constraints. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

sql server 2008 ddl trigger audit sql server table changes tracking In this video we will discuss, how to audit table changes in SQL Server using a DDL trigger. Table to store the audit data Create table TableChanges ( DatabaseName nvarchar(250), TableName nvarchar(250), EventType nvarchar(250), LoginName nvarchar(250), SQLCommand nvarchar(2500), AuditDateTime datetime ) Go The following trigger audits all table changes in all databases on a SQL Server. CREATE TRIGGER tr_AuditTableChanges ON ALL SERVER FOR CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE AS BEGIN DECLARE @EventData XML SELECT @EventData = EVENTDATA() INSERT INTO SampleDB.dbo.TableChanges (DatabaseName, TableName, EventType, LoginName, SQLCommand, AuditDateTime) VALUES ( @EventData.value('(/EVENT_INSTANCE/DatabaseName)[1]', 'varchar(250)'), @EventData.value('(/EVENT_INSTANCE/ObjectName)[1]', 'varchar(250)'), @EventData.value('(/EVENT_INSTANCE/EventType)[1]', 'nvarchar(250)'), @EventData.value('(/EVENT_INSTANCE/LoginName)[1]', 'varchar(250)'), @EventData.value('(/EVENT_INSTANCE/TSQLCommand)[1]', 'nvarchar(2500)'), GetDate() ) END In the above example we are using EventData() function which returns event data in XML format.
