How to Build a Solid Mitre Saw Station // DIY

Setting up a mitre saw station in my garage workshop. I used old 2x6s ripped to 2.5" wide, and planed to 1.25" thick, and assembled using half lap joints (glued and screwed) for my Axial Glide 12" Bosch Mitre Saw. Wanted to eliminate vertical legs, so I added 45 degree supports to hold up the table top, laminated the top with 5/8" construction plywood, and added 1/4" masonite hardboard to the top for smoothness.

Build a Custom Sofa Table // DIY

I built a custom console / side table from some cast iron legs from an old screw machine lathe from the Garvin Machine Co. NY, and used some leftover rough cut 2x6 western red cedar to make a table top. The cast iron legs are from the 1890's or 1900's. I stripped the paint, and re-painted them a military green color with a high gloss. For the top, I made a 3ft long by 2ft wide tabletop, and finished it with amber shellac.

I used paint stripper to remove the original shellac finish, dirt and grime, then put on a few fresh coats of amber shellac. I cleaned the brass hardware, and put it all back together. It came with a few old tools that I will restore as well. An antique Shurly & Dietrich hand saw, Stanley machinist level, Durabel fire alarm, a set of drill bits, and a few others that will get restored soon.
