How To Use Sage & Palo Santo - Smudging Tutorial

05:22
In this video Susie Fagundes from Intrinsic Elements in Modesto, California talks about how to use Sage, and how to use Palo Santo during the ancient ritual of Smudging. Susie is an expert in her field with decades of training and experience. She is in downtown Modesto, California to offer her knowledge in a beautiful store called Intrinsic Elements. You can find Intrinsic Elements at 1214 J St. in Modesto or online at IntrinsicElements.com . You can also give them a call at 209-409-8510. Here is some more information about Smudging from Wiki: "In some First Nations and Native American ceremonies, certain herbs are traditionally used to purify or bless people and places. For instance, some cultures use the smoke of burning red cedar as part of purification and healing ceremonies. However, the same herbs that are burned by one culture may be taboo to burn in another, or they may be used for a completely different purpose. When specific herbs are burned ceremonially, this may or may not be called "smudging," depending on the culture. Boughman tells of smudging done in hospitals to "cleanse and repel evil influence." The practice of burning sacred herbs for ceremony has also raised issues about the religious freedom of Native Americans. Native American students in college dorms, for example, have at times faced harassment and been forbidden from smudging due to university policies that prohibit the burning of candles or incense in college dorm rooms. Traditionally, when gathering herbs for ceremonial use, care is taken to determine the time of day, month, or year when the herbs should be collected; for example, at dawn or evening, at certain phases of the moon, or according to yearly cycles. Gertrude Allen, a Lumbee, reported that her father, an expert in healing with plants, stated that sage varies in potency at different times of the year. Most commercial gatherers do not follow these traditions. A fragmented version of smudging has been adopted into a number of modern belief systems, including many forms of New Age and eclectic Neopagan spirituality. This has been protested and is seen as cultural appropriation by people from the traditional cultures whose practices are being imitated. While the burning of incense, and the use of sacred fires that put off smoke, is found in many cultures worldwide, those activities are not known as "smudging." Smudging with sage, or other herbs sacred to Indigenous Peoples, is a different and culturally-specific practice. Cultural appropriation of Native American spiritual ceremonies has been addressed by the United Nations in the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which advocates for protection of traditional knowledge and Indigenous intellectual property." 03:54
This afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. emergency crews were called to the Chase Bank on Tully Rd. in Modesto, California for reports that 3 bank employees were braking out into rashes on their hands. The employees say they began experiencing these symptoms shortly after handling money that a customer brought in. They reported that the money was wrapped up in a suspicious way in a towel. The customer who had brought in the money was gone by the time symptoms began. Upon arrival Modesto Police Officers and Modesto Firefighters cleared the bank of all customers and employees. All 6 bank employees went through a decontamination process which included being hosed by a fire hose twice, first clothed and then in the nude behind a shroud. Both the 3 who had rashes and the 3 who did not were taken to area hospitals for treatment and evaluation. Their conditions have not yet been released. A Hazmat Team then made entry into the bank and recovered the suspect money and any other suspicious items. A process that lasted for several hours well into the night. During the Hazmat operation unknown chemicals were in fact found on some of the money. The items were taken to a lab for further evaluation. It remains unclear what the chemical was. Wild High-Speed Police Chase Caught On Film - Modesto News Story

05:53
This evening at around 11:15 pm a Sheriff Deputy with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department attempted a traffic stop on a man driving a car on 9th Street in Downtown Modesto, California. The man refused to yield to the deputy which began a police chase with speeds topping 90 miles per hour. First the suspect fled the city limits, driving east out of town on Yosemite Blvd. before turning northbound on Geer Rd. The suspect then drove north to Riverbank before turning west and heading back into the Modesto City Limits. The suspect came south through town on Oakdale Rd. and headed to the Airport District Neighborhood. At this point the suspect circled around the area several times and it was at this point when we were able to capture some wild police chase footage on film as the suspect passed the intersection of Kerr and Yosemite over and over again. Police at a couple points attempted to use spike strips to stop the suspect but, he was abel to avoid the "stop sticks" each time they tried. The suspect eventually crashed his car in an alley way in the 700 block of Kerr Ave. and was able to elude immediate capture by jumping fences. The police chase itself lasted about an hour. Police began a house to house search and after about another hour found the suspect in the attic crawl space of a house near the crash. He was then taken into custody without further incident. Modesto News .org was the only news agency on the scene in order to bring you this exclusive police chase footage along with an interview with one of the supervisors on the scene. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2014

CBD Oil Testimonials - CBD Oil Vs. Painkillers - Natural Pain Relief

03:01
This is a video about the benefits of CBD oil brought to you by CaliforniaGreenShop.com . Here is some more information about CBD oil from Wikipedia: "Cannabidiol (INN;[3] abbreviated as: CBD) is one of at least 113 cannabinoids identified in cannabis. It is a major phytocannabinoid, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract. CBD does not appear to have any psychoactive effects such as those caused by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It may have a downregulating impact on disordered thinking and anxiety. Potential uses are the subject of ongoing research. Cannabidiol use appears to be safe, but a 2017 review recommended larger and longer human trials before a definitive conclusion is reached. One animal study reported that co-administration with THC potentiated the effects of THC. One possible mechanism is by competing for the THC receptor sites." Veterans Services Interview - Ex-Marine Lied About Service - Stolen Valor

02:45
Earlier this week Modesto News .org brought you a story of a Marine Corp Reservist standing guard in front of Hughson Elementary School in Hughson, California. The man standing guard was in an United States Marine Corps Uniform and called himself Sergeant. His story of serving 3 tours in battle, being injured in battle, and being currently enlisted as a Reserve have now been proven to be false. Modesto News .org headed out to speak with a real American hero and long serving Veteran Jim E, Greer about what it means to him when someone tells the kind of lies that Craig Pusley did. Jim Greer served an entire career in the United States Navy and is now the Manager of the local Veteran's Services Office. Here is an article by the Marine Corps Times today on this story: A Marine veteran who made national news for standing guard outside a California school in uniform was accused Thursday of faking his military service, but denied he did so. Craig Pusley appeared outside Hughson Elementary School in Modesto, Calif., on Wednesday in a desert camouflage uniform to help children feel safe following the massacre of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., he said. He added that he was inspired in part by another Marine veteran, Staff Sgt. Jordan Pritchard, who made headlines for similar actions at Gower Elementary School in Nashville, Tenn. Media coverage of Pusley's actions reported that he is 28 years old and got out of the Corps as a sergeant after deploying twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. In reality, Pusley graduated from boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, but was in the service less than a year and never made it past private first class, Marine officials said. He never deployed or made it through military occupational specialty school, leaving the Corps designated a "basic Marine," MOS 8000. Pusley told Marine Corps Times in a phone interview he never lied about his military service, blaming the first reporter who interviewed him, Nan Austin of The Modesto Bee, for getting the story wrong. "There's a lot of fabrication to this story that didn't come out of my mouth," Pusley said. "All I know is that I talked to a Modesto Bee lady, and everything went crazy." Photographs show him wearing the rank insignia of a sergeant, however. Asked about that, he said he didn't realize what was on the uniform and borrowed it from someone else. He added his old name tapes to the borrowed blouse, he said. "I feel horrible about this," he said. "My intention was for the kids. I don't understand why everyone has to find a negative in every situation." Pusley didn't have an explanation why Austin would have reported that he went to Iraq and Afghanistan, or why it was repeated in subsequent news coverage. However, he said he is "deeply sorry" if standing in front of the school in uniform if it offended anyone, and has written an email to the White House apologizing. He wasn't anticipating a blast of negativity after appearing at the school, he said. "I cannot emphasize enough how sorry I am that all of this has happened," he said. "These were not my intentions. This was never supposed to happen." Austin could not immediately be reached for comment, but The Modesto Bee's editor, Joe Kieta, said the newspaper stands by her work. On Thursday, Pusley appeared in front of the school in Modesto again, this time out of uniform, after it was reported that Marine officials told Pritchard he was not authorized to wear the uniform in front of the school. Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Mike Barrett, the top enlisted Marine, released a statement that he understands Marines' desires to protect children, but Marines should not be wearing the uniform outside of rules and regulations. "This is not the right thing. Not the right time. And not the right place," Barrett said. "The uniform doesn't make the man. It's your character that defines you." Pusley said he is 25 years old and dreamt of being a Marine as a child. He cracked his femur during boot camp, but made it to graduation, he said. Afterward, he was assigned to the Basic Marine Platoon at the recruit depot, where injured personnel can be assigned to provide time to heal. A Textbook Felony Traffic Stop - The Modesto Police Department

07:09
(Special Note: The men seen in this video were not arrested.) Last night a call came into the Modesto Police Department reporting a drive-by shooting in the area of Orangeburg Ave. and Oakdale Rd. Officers converged on the area from all over Modesto to respond to the call while keeping an eye out for the possible responsible party. One officer driving northbound on Oakdale Rd. noticed a vehicle which matched the description of a silver 4 door "Honda" type vehicle turning westbound on Wylie Dr. just south of the shooting. The car did not have it's headlights on. The officer called for back-up to the scene and officers initiated a high-risk felony traffic stop on the vehicle. The officers took two men into custody during the stop and continued their investigation. As officers investigated the crime further, they found that the car and men they stopped, were not involved in the crime. In fact police were unable to confirm if a shooting had taken place at all after they interviewed the reporting party and looked for evidence. Modesto News .org was there, to capture the textbook Felony Traffic Stop on film and is broadcasting it to you as an example of a professional, well executed, felony traffic stop made by the Modesto Police Department. It is very important to reiterate that the two men seen in this video were not arrested or charged with any crime. It is also important to tell you that ModestoNews.org spoke to both men seen in the video and received their permission to use their images in this video. Eddie Money Interview - Eddie Money Talks After A Show In 2015

03:09
Yesterday the American rock 'n' roll icon Eddie Money performed at the Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock, California and we were there to capture it on film. In addition to filming him perform his most successful hits we also caught up briefly with Eddie Money after the show in order to bring you this exclusive Modesto News .org celebrity interview. Here is some more information about Eddie Money from Wiki: Eddie Money (born Edward Joseph Mahoney; March 21, 1949) is an American rock guitarist, saxophonist and singer-songwriter, who found success in the 1970s and 1980s with a string of Top 40 hits and platinum albums. Rock impresario Bill Graham said of Money, "Eddie Money has it all.... Not only can he sing, write, and play, but he is a natural performer." Eddie Money was born Edward Mahoney into a large Irish Catholic family in Brooklyn and raised in Plainedge on Long Island. His father, grandfather, and brother were all New York City Police Department (NYPD) policemen, and Eddie was an NYPD trainee. As his interest in music intensified, he eventually ended his law-enforcement career in favor of becoming a full-time musician. He moved to Berkeley, California, and became a regular at area clubs, where he secured a recording contract with Columbia Records. Later in the 1970s, he charted with singles such as "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise". Money continued his successes and took advantage of the MTV music video scene in the early 1980s with his humorous narrative videos for "Shakin'" and "Think I'm in Love," but his career began to fail him after several unsuccessful releases in the mid-1980s, accompanied by his struggles with drug addiction. Money made a comeback in 1986 and returned to the mainstream rock spotlight with the album Can't Hold Back. The album's Ronnie Spector duet "Take Me Home Tonight" reached the Top 10, as did the hit "I Wanna Go Back." Money followed the album with another Top 10 hit, "Walk on Water" (1988), but his Top 40 career ended following the #21 placement of "I'll Get By" in 1992. During the 1990s and 2000s, Money continued to release numerous compilation albums along with several albums featuring new material. He joined a 12-step program in 2001 and has said of his addiction "I came to the realization that I didn't really need [it] for my quick wit." Today, he still tours regularly, often accompanied by other prominent rock acts from the 1970s and 1980s, and has also made several television appearances on American sitcoms. He played himself in season 4, episode 23 of the sitcom, The King of Queens. Since 1992 Money has traditionally opened the summer concert season for DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. In 2010, Eddie Money performed a medley of his hit singles during the halftime performance at the Liberty Bowl. In 2012, he appeared in a GEICO insurance commercial, in which he owns a travel agency where he sings "Two Tickets to Paradise" to a family who wants tickets for a vacation. Money has been married to wife, Laurie, since 1989. They have four sons and one daughter, Jesse Money. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2015 Eddie Money "Eddie Money" interview interviewed interviews 2015 "Eddie Money interview" "Eddie Money interviews" "Eddie Money interviewed" "Eddie Money 2015" musician "Edward Joseph Mahoney" "Edward Joseph Mahoney interview" "Eddie Money talks" "interview with Eddie Money" "Eddie Money shows" "Eddie Money in 2015" celebrity "celebrity interview" "celebrity interview 2015" "Eddie Money children" "Eddie Money's children"

Dental Implants: Surgery, Advantages, Risks, & New Technology - Dentist Advice

08:19
Dental technology has come a long way in just a few years, especially in the area of Dental Implants. Procedures that use to require the work of serval specialists can now be done by one dentist in his own office. This means the price of dental implants has dropped dramatically in the last few years opening them up to millions of people who never thought they could afford them. We headed out to speak with Dr. Donald Hillock of Hillock Family Dental about the new leaps and bounds in Dental Implant Technology. To contact Hillock Family Dental you can call them at 209-522-8800, visit their website at http://www.HillockDental.com, or visit in person at 1908 Coffee Rd. #4 in Modesto, California. Here is a little more information about Dental Implants from Wiki: "A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration where materials, such as titanium, form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first placed, so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a dental prosthetic is added. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic. Success or failure of implants depends on the health of the person receiving it, drugs which impact the chances of osseointegration and the health of the tissues in the mouth. The amount of stress that will be put on the implant and fixture during normal function is also evaluated. Planning the position and number of implants is key to the long-term health of the prosthetic since biomechanical forces created during chewing can be significant. The position of implants is determined by the position and angle of adjacent teeth, lab simulations or by using computed tomography with CAD/CAM simulations and surgical guides called stents. The prerequisites to long-term success of osseointegrated dental implants are healthy bone and gingiva. Since both can atrophy after tooth extraction pre-prosthetic procedures, such as sinus lifts or gingival grafts, are sometimes required to recreate ideal bone and gingiva. The final prosthetic can be either fixed, where a person cannot remove the denture or teeth from their mouth or removable, where they can remove the prosthetic. In each case an abutment is attached to the implant fixture. Where the prosthetic is fixed, the crown, bridge or denture is fixed to the abutment with either lag-screws or cement. Where the prosthetic is removable, a corresponding adapter is placed in the prosthetic so that the two pieces can be secured together. The risks and complications related to implant therapy are divided into those that occur during surgery (such as excessive bleeding or nerve injury), those that occur in the first six months (such as infection and failure to osseointegrate) and those that occur long-term (such as peri-implantitis and mechanical failures). In the presence of healthy tissues, a well integrated implant with appropriate biomechanical loads can have long term success rates of 93 to 98 percent for the fixture and 10 to 15 year lifespans for the prosthetic teeth. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2014 dental implant implants dentist "dental implant" "dental implants" endosseous implant "endosseous implant" fixture "dental fixture" orthodontic "orthodontic anchor" crown bridge denture "dental crown" "dental bridge" dentures abutment "dental abutment" "dental implant advice" "dental implant cost" "dental implants cost" "dental implants advice" "dentist in Modesto" "Modesto dentist" "dental advice" "dentist advice" tooth teeth "fake teeth" "new dental implants" "cheap dental implant" "cheap dental implants"

Wilder began his career on stage, and made his screen debut in the TV series Armstrong Circle Theatre in 1962. Stolen Car Dumped In The Tuolumne River - Tow Truck Operation

02:42
This afternoon the Modesto Police Department received a tip that a car was in the Tuolumne River near the corner of Crater Ave. and Ustick Rd. in Modesto, California. When police arrived in the area they found a green Honda Civic sitting in about 3 feet of water at the edge of the river at the bottom of a ridge. Police searched the vehicle and did not find any one inside. They ran the plates and found that the vehicle had been reported stolen. They speculate that the vehicle had been dumped into the river when another car near the scene was stolen a couple of days ago. The Modesto Regional Fire Authority's Water Rescue Team was called to the scene with a boat to search the river for any victims as a precaution. No victims were found. The vehicle was likely driven to the edge of the ridge and then pushed over the side. Police called a tow truck company to the scene to recover the stolen vehicle. An additional truck was called to the scene to complete the difficult task. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2013 Tags: stolen car vehicle recovered dumped "stolen car" "stolen vehicle" Modesto California police department investigation "Modesto California" "Modesto Police Department" "Modesto stolen car" "stolen car Modesto" "joy ride" "bait car" "stolen cars" "stolen car news" "Modesto News" news information report story "news story" crime "Modesto Crime" "Crime in Modesto"

Moonshine Bandits Interview - Exclusive Tour Bus Interview

04:12
Yesterday the streets of Downtown Modesto were filmed with thousands of people who came out to enjoy the 2014 X Fest music festival. Modesto News .org was there in order to bring you the sites and sounds from the amazing annual event. During our time at X Fest this year we were able to hook up with the one and only Moonshine Bandits band just after their performance on the main stage. We met up with the band in their tour bus just before they headed off back on the road to their next events and concerts. The Moonshine Bandits have a long history with Modesto and the Central Valley as a whole. Everyone in the band was born and raised in this area and while the Modesto area loves the Moonshine Bandits, the Moonshine Bandits also love the Modesto area too. Here is some more information about the Moonshine Bandits from their website http://www.MoonshineBandits.com . Central California’s country hip-hop rebels the Moonshine Bandits are making noise with their new album “Whiskey and Women”, as the album landed at position No. 54 on BILLBOARD’s Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists. The Moonshine Bandits’ intoxicating musical mixture of hip-hop and country won over fans of different genres as their new album simultaneously hit Billboard’s Rap chart at No. 44, Current Country chart at No. 65, and the Independent albums chart at No. 162. Take 1 shot of Johnny Cash influence, 1 shot of the Beastie Boys influence and a dash of dancing girls, and you've got the unconventional new duo, the Moonshine Bandits. The Bandits have toured Nationally, recorded or performed with established artists such as Uncle Kracker, David Allan Coe, REHAB, TECHN9NE, Kottonmouth Kings, Everlast, Pepper, N2Deep, Twiztid, Boondox, Haystak, Vanilla Ice, Expendables, E-40 and the list goes on. Moonshine Bandits songs “Sweet Home California” , “Moonshine” featuring Danny Boone from the group REHAB (Sittin’ at a Bar song), and “Super Goggles” have all received Radio Airplay on FM Top 40 Stations in various regions. The Moonshine Bandits are definitely the working man's champion and continue to earn their stripes in a tough industry. The Bandits endorse their own brand of Liquor beverage called "Moonshine Bandits Outlaw Moonshine" The 99 proof spirit sold in regional grocery/liquor stores and online at www.outlawshine.com. One of the reasons Tex and Bird became known as the Moonshine Bandits is because of Tex's deep family roots of bootlegging booze during the Prohibition years. Tex's great grandfather used a barber shop as a front while he peddled alcohol illegally in baby carriages to community members, family, friends and politicians. This all took place in Northern California during the years of the Great Depression. The Bandits have earned a ton of industry credits with music placed in Extreme Sports DVDs, 4x4 DVD's, and close to 1,000 live shows performed. Moonshine Bandits have performed in Biker Clubhouses where most Police Departments wouldn’t even step foot in, Smoke Filled Dive Bars, Biker Bars, Clubs, Harley Davidson Events, Cage Fighting Events, 4x4 Mud Conventions, Beer Festivals, Music Venues, and just about every other type of venue you can imagine. The ultimate honor was receiving a phone call from the United States Military to perform at Fort Irwin, CA. The Moonshine Bandits performed on July 4, 2010 at the Fort Irwin Military Base located in the Mojave Desert for thousands of our U.S. Troops. Their Live performances rival many of today’s mega super stars. Their show consists of backup singer Derrty D, Award Winning DJ ChopStiqs, Shiner Girl Dancer Kristin aka Firecracker, their drummer B. Diddy and a lifted 4 x 4 Limo. If the Bandits are in your town, be ready for a Hell Raisin’ Good ol’ Time! As the Moonshine Bandits gained momentum and their fan base started spreading outside of California to different states, and to Japan, Canada, Sweden, and troops stationed overseas, SHINER NATION WAS BUILT. Shiner Nation was formed to unite all the Moonshine Bandits fans. The Definition of a Shiner is a Rowdy Individual commonly known as a Moonshine Bandit Fan. Living the Shiner Lifestyle isn’t just about the music, it’s also about partying it up and raising hell your own way. You only live once. The Bandits Musical foundation was built with a blue collar approach from the ground up. Their success is truely a result of hard work and doing things “their” way. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2014

Parrot Calls Police Seeking Medical Attention

04:13
This evening officers with the Modesto Police Department were dispatched to Don's Mobile Glass on H St. in Downtown Modesto, California after being contacted by an alarm company. The alarm company told police that the burglary alarm had been activated from within the business. Expecting to find a burglary in progress police first surrounded the building. Then they formed an entry team and with a key from a store employee, they entered the business to search for any signs of an intruder. There were no signs of a burglary or even forced entry found during the search. Police however did notice that the store's Parrot, a bird kept in a cage in the front showroom, appeared to be in critical condition. First appearing lifeless, when prodded the parrot could not stand on it's legs and flapped about on it's back. An officer opened the cage and scooped the bird into a basket, handing it off to one of the store employees who came to the scene. The employee took the bird to a local veterinary clinic. The current condition of the bird is not yet known however, according to some on the scene who have experience with pet birds, the bird appeared to be in grave condition. They did not expect the bird to survive. Police determined that there was no burglary at all and that the bird somehow set off the alarm. The bird has lived in the showroom of the business for years, and during it's time at the business it has not been known to activate false burglary alarms before. It remains unknown how the alarm was activated. Modesto News .org was there to capture all that unfolded on film. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2012 Tags: parrot bird calls police animal weird interesting footage "parrot calls police" "bird calls police" "parrot news story" "bird news story" "Don's Mobile Glass" "animal news story" "animal news" "strange parrot" "odd news" "Modesto California" "Modesto Police Department" "Modesto News" news information report story "news story" "injured bird" "injured parrot" "bird calls for help" "police help bird" "police save bird"

Police Officers Pray Together After Finding 2 Women, 2 Young Children, & A Baby Murdered

02:05
Yesterday afternoon a person called 911 to ask for a welfare check at a home on Nob Hill Ct. in Modesto, California. When police arrived on the scene they found 2 women, 2 young children under 6 years old, and one infant baby murdered at the scene. Police arrested a suspect in connection with the murders later that night named Martin Martinez. Martinez had been in a relationship with one of the women murdered and one of the three children murdered was his own. To find out more about this incident you can watch the previous video uploaded to this one. While on the scene we filmed 4 police officers who are likely Crime Scene Investigators (based on their uniforms) coming together to pray. It must be hard seeing what they see and we wanted to upload this as a reminder that they are human beings too, with a very tough job to do. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2015 police officer officers pray praying "police pray" "police praying" "praying in public" "officials praying" "police officer praying" "police officer prays" "praying officer" "official prays" "public official praying" "praying to God" "power of prayer" prayer "police prayer" "officer's prayer" "prayer news" "news story" "news story about prayer" "news story about praying"

Police Stop Man Walking Down Street With A Loaded Handgun - Open Carry Laws

05:05
Yesterday 911 Dispatchers in the city of Modesto, California began getting calls of a man walking on the sidewalk northbound on McHenry Ave. with a pistol on his hip. The man was described as a white male in his 30's wearing military style fatigues with a handgun on his waist. Police close to the area rushed to the scene as well as Modesto News .org . When the first officer arrived on the scene he took the man into custody and disarmed him finding a loaded .40 Caliber Semi-Automatic in a holster on the man's hip. Modesto News .org arrived within seconds of that in order to bring you this footage of what happened next. What came next was a great lesson in Open Carry Laws in California, Concealed Carry Laws in California, and just plain common sense. In California it is a Misdemeanor to carry a loaded firearm within city limits however, in California when it comes to Misdemeanors the officers on the streets are allowed discretion in terms of filing charges. In this case due to several mitigating circumstances the officers at the scene decided to confiscate the handgun itself but, to let the man go with a warning. The man turned out to be a new resident of Modesto, having moved to California last week. He moved from the state of Alaska and told police that he regularly carried his gun there. After a background check on the man police confirmed his story and found him to be clear of warrants and felonies. http://ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2013 Tags: Open Carry "Open Carry" "Open Carry Laws" "Open Carry Police" Second Amendment "Second Amendment" Concealed "Concealed Carry" "Concealed vs Open Carry" firearm gun police search stop "Open Carry Stop" "Open Carry Rights" "Police Search" "Cool Cops" "Nice Cops" "Second Amendment Police" "Second Amendment Rights" "Open Carry Cops" "Open Carry Second Amendment"

Show Winning 1960 Ford Thunderbird Purchased For Only $2,000!

06:10
In this episode we talk with the man who bought a show winning 1960 Ford Thunderbird for $2,000- with all original parts and paint! All he had to do was clean it up and headed out to win at car shows! Here is some more information about the 1960 Ford Thunderbird from Wiki: The second generation of the Ford Thunderbird is a large personal luxury car that was produced by Ford for the 1958 to 1960 model years. While intended as the successor for the 1955-1957 two-seater, two major changes were made to attract potential buyers. Convertible and fixed-roof pillarless hardtop bodystyles were offered, whereas the first generation models had been available with a detachable glass-fibre hard top and a folding fabric top. Most visibly, the 1958 Thunderbird was nearly two feet longer as Ford had added two rear seats to the vehicle. Along with the 1958 Lincolns, the 1958 Thunderbird was the first Ford Motor Company vehicle designed with unibody construction. The new Thunderbirds were produced at a new assembly plant at Wixom, Michigan, built as part of a corporate expansion plan to increase the sales of up-market cars (Mercurys, Lincolns, and Thunderbirds). A second location was opened in Pico Rivera, California at another new location called Los Angeles Assembly. With more trim changes, 1960's sales figures hit another record: 92,843 units sold, including 11,860 convertibles. A rare option in this year was a sunroof; this "Golde Edition" (Golde was a German company whose sunroof patent Ford licensed) sold 2,530 examples. At the end of 1960 production two Thunderbirds were constructed of stainless steel for the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation, at a price of $35,000 each. Because of the properties of stainless steel, the production dies would be destroyed as a result of the stamping of the parts. This was not a problem for Ford, as the next generation of T-Bird used a new body style. To duplicate the T-Birds 3,957 lb (1,795 kg). normal production weight, body panels were made of Type 302 stainless steel, and trim pieces out of Type 430 stainless steel. At the time of their production, because of the maximum rolling mill for stainless steel only produced stock that was 72 inches (1,800 mm) in width, both cars' roofs were constructed from two 42-inch-wide sections which were welded together in the middle (the roof would have required an 84-inch-wide sheet of stainless steel, which apparently could not be obtained). Both T-Birds received mechanical and interior restorations in the 1980s and survive to this day, with one on permanent display at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Movie Fans React To 'Straight Outta Compton' - Straight Outta Compton Movie Review

06:02
Today the biographical drama film 'Straight Outta Compton' is premiering around the nation so we headed out to our local Galaxy Theatres Luxury + to talk with some of the first fans who saw the movie to see what they thought of it. Here is some more information about Straight Outta Compton from Wiki: Straight Outta Compton is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by F. Gary Gray. The film revolves around the rise and fall of the Compton, California hip hop group N.W.A, and borrows its title from the name of N.W.A's 1988 debut studio album. The film was released on August 14, 2015. The film chronicles the background history of the group N.W.A, its members and the dynamics of their relationships with each other, from the band's inception, to growing success and stardom until the eventual disbanding. In March 2009, it was announced that the film was in development at New Line Cinema, with writers S. Leigh Savidge and Alan Wenkus[8] and Tomica Woods-Wright, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre set to produce the film. In May 2010, it was announced Andrea Berloff would write a draft of the screenplay. In September 2011, John Singleton told The Playlist that he was in talks to direct the film, saying: "I can’t talk about it too prematurely about the stuff I'm doing because nothing’s come to fruition yet, but Cube and I are talking about doing the N.W.A. story. The script is really, really good, and so we're just figuring it out. New Line really wants to make it." Also in September 2011, F. Gary Gray, Craig Brewer, and Peter Berg were reportedly in talks to direct the film. In April 2012, F. Gary Gray was selected as director. Gray has worked with Ice Cube in the film Friday and Dr. Dre in the film Set It Off. By 2013, the film had been picked up by Universal Studios, who, in December 2013, hired Jonathan Herman to write a new draft of the script and brought in Will Packer to executive produce. Straight Outta Compton has received positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a rating of 87%, based on 82 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10. The site's consensus reads, "Straight Outta Compton is a biopic that's built to last, thanks to F. Gary Gray's confident direction and engaging performances from a solid cast." On Metacritic, it has a score of 71 out of 100, based on 34 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". IGN gave the film a score of 7.9/10, saying "Straight Outta Compton is an entertaining, powerful and relevant take on the rise and fall of rap group N.W.A.". Firefighters Battle A Huge Fire In Modesto, California - RAW FOOTAGE For TV Use

03:54
This evening at around 9:30 pm firefighters with the Modesto Fire Department were dispatched for reports of a house on fire on the corner of Riverside Dr. and Miller Ave. in Modesto, California. As the first firefighters were headed to the scene they could already see an orange glow from about a mile away so additional help was dispatched. When firefighters arrived they found a vacant triplex structure. This large multi-family unit had burned before. This time the fire was absolutely massive and the entire structure was engulfed in flames. Firefighters were hard to save the occupied houses on both sides of the structure and were able to contain the fire to the vacant triplex. At one point in the video you can see firefighters running and working frantically to stop the fire from spreading to the house just to the north as the burning structure began to fall. They stopped the spread and saved the home. The triplex was completely leveled however, no one was injured during the fire and firefight and no other properties were damaged. Modesto News .org was on the scene in order to capture this compelling footage of the firefight and to tell you what happened. http://www.ModestoNews.org All Rights Reserved - Copyright 2014

Boeing KC-97 Stratotanker - Guided Tour & Information

07:12
The Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California is home to a lot of unique and historical aircraft. Modesto News .org headed out to take tours of several historical air craft in order to kick off our ModestoNews.org Classroom Segments. In this video we take a tour of the Boeing KC-97 Stratotanker, a refueling aircraft that use to fly out of Castle Air Force Base itself. Here is some more information about the Boeing KC-97 Stratotanker: he Boeing KC-97 Stratotanker was a United States strategic tanker aircraft based on the Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter. It was succeeded by the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker. The KC-97 Stratotanker was an aerial refueling tanker variant of the C-97 Stratofreighter (which was itself based on the B-29 Superfortress), greatly modified with all the necessary tanks, plumbing, and "flying boom". The cavernous upper deck was capable of accommodating oversize cargo accessed through a very large right-side door. In addition, transferrable jet fuel was contained in tanks on the lower deck (G-L models). Both decks were heated and pressurized for high altitude operations. The USAF began operating the KC-97 in 1950. It purchased a total of 816 KC-97s from Boeing, as opposed to only 74 of the C-97 cargo version. The KC-97 used piston engines, fueled by aviation gasoline, but it carried jet fuel for its refueling mission. It therefore used independent (transfer valves) systems for both types of fuel, and was able to transfer its avgas 145 to off-load to the receiver in an emergency. (known as a SAVE) These tankers were vitally important to the world-wide B-47 Stratojet strategic operations. An example was the support of Arctic reconnaissance flights from Thule Air Base. While it was an effective tanker, the KC-97's slow speed and low operational altitude complicated refueling operations with jet aircraft. B-52s typically lowered their flaps and rear landing gear to slow the aircraft enough to refuel from the KC-97. In addition, a typical B-52 refueling engagement profile would involve a descent that allowed the aircraft pair to maintain a higher airspeed (220-240 knots). In the early 1960s, the Tactical Air Command added J-47 jet pods from retired KB-50 tankers to produce the KC-97L. The jet pods increased performance and made the KC-97 more compatible with jet aircraft. In 1956, SAC began phasing out the KC-97 in favor of the KC-135. KC-97s continued operating with TAC, the Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard. The KC-97 was finally retired completely in 1978, when the Texas and Utah Air National Guards exchanged their KC-97Ls for C-130s and KC-135s, respectively.
