Visitors to these pages generally arrive after clicking on a Google or Facebook Ad or a link on a Google search results page. And one of the most important aspects of a landing page is that it has no top-bar navigation links, meant to limit the options available to your visitors helping to guide them toward your intended call-to-action. Contests are a great way to get new Facebook likes, Twitter followers, traffic to your website and leads by enticing them with a prize. There are many different types of contests from the most basic "random draw" Facebook Sweepstakes to highly involved video contest s with a full panel of judges to decide a winner. All of which can easily be setup with contest apps like Wishpond's. My biggest piece of contest advice? Don't give away an Ipad. You will get a ton of entries, but those people will only be interested in ipads, not your products. This will make it almost impossible to convert these users into actual sales for your business. Giving away a product you sell or a store gift card ensures that entrants are interested in you, which makes it easy to convert them into sales. There are two main types of landing pages for two different goals Click-through Pages, which are meant to sell visitors on a product, service or offer with a value proposition, the images and the information needed to make an informed decision and get them to click a call-to-action button, which directs them to an e-commerce shopping cart, PayPal payment or registration page. Lead Generation Pages: These are used to collect information such as a name and an email address through a sign up form. This allows you to market to and connect with these potential customers (or leads) at a subsequent time. As such a lead-generation page will contain a form along with a description of what you'll get in return for submitting information or "opting in". An effective lead-generation page offers people something in exchange for completing the signup form. an ebook, a free webinar, a coupon, a giveaway...This is what's known as the "bribe".

After some deliberation the team at Deviate Labs decided it would be fun for the show’s audience to vote on which neighborhood had the best “main street” shopping experience in America. This contest was run in partnership with ShopOnMain.com and the winning neighborhood would receive the following: * A spotlight on Small Town Big Deal. * The title of #1 Main Street in America * A spotlighted section on ShopOnMain.com to sell products through Deviate Labs needed a tool that was fast and easy to use, ultimately choosing the vote contest tool by Wishpond. Once they set up the landing page it was off to the races. Thousands entered the contest, and even more voted to represent their neighborhoods — the turnout was even better than they expected. In total the best main street in America contest received: * 21, 726 signups (emails captured) * 57,380 contest views (impressions) * A 37.9% conversion rate ShopOnMain.com saw a staggering increase in their web traffic and engagement on their social channels during the contest. Their Wishpond landing page was able to operate on the side and collect leads for their future promotions all while they underwent a massive website redesign. Adspresso wanted to increase the number of likes on their Facebook page. They ran two Facebook ads to see which one would result in a higher number of likes. Hypothesis: Keeping everything else the same they just changed the copy on their ads (see below). Result: Version A “LIKE us for pro tips on how to improve your Facebook ad campaigns today!” resulted in 70 Facebook likes. Version B didn’t even get 1 like. From the first line you can see why Version B did so poorly (not even getting 1 like.) People don’t like being spammed. Telling them that they’ll be getting a daily tip is basically warning them that they’ll have to sift through emails to find useful information. In other words, it gives you the opportunity to promote your products to people at the exact moment they are searching for them. Your Google Adwords Landing page is the web page people land on after they click your ad. So, how you do maximize your return on investment for every ad click you pay Google for? Or in other words, how do you maximize the number of people who "convert" on your landing page after clicking your Google Ad? There are two things you need to do: 1. First, you need to make sure the keywords you're paying to advertise for are relevant to your ad and landing page. 2. Second, you need to match the copy (or text) on your landing page with the copy of your Ad. If your ad and landing page say two different things, it's very easy for people to get confused and abandon your landing page. The best practice is to match the headline and description of your Ad with the main heading and sub-heading on your landing page. Lets move on to Facebook ads. The reason they're so powerful is that you can target a very specific audience, right down to their age, location and interests. One thing to keep in mind, even though you can advertise to the right people on Facebook, it doesn't mean that they're interested in buying right now. This means that you need to give them some kind of incentive, or soft-sell. This works best for lead-generation in which you send people who click your ad to a landing page, where they complete a signup form in return for something of value, like a free coupon, newsletter or ebook. And lastly, Email-Targeted Ads, also known as Custom Audience Ads.This is an incredible tool that allows you to target people who are on your email list, with an Ad on Facebook. All you need to do is upload your list and we match the emails to users on Facebook and show them your Ad! Now I know you might be wondering, why would I pay to advertise to people who are already on my email list? Well, on average, about 80% of email subscribers don't open, or don't even see, the email newsletters you send them.
