But 300 miles of full throttle racing can leave even the most seasoned veterans shaking their heads as you will see in our coverage of this years event.

Endurance racing is generally considered a long drawn-out affair with little side-by-side racing. The inaugural IJSBA World Finals Endurance Championship proved otherwise...in a very big way featuring as much bar banging, fiberglass bashing action, if not more, than most closed course races. Emerging from the mayhem with the title was Kuwait's Mohammed Burbayea on his Yamaha SVHO.

The Blowsion Surf Slam is always THE place to be for the first weekend of September for Personal Watercraft Freeriders and fans. Those in attendance this year had a special opportunity to witness the new RICKTER Edge hull being flogged by the RICKTER team. The new hull is designed with improved speed and ease of riding in mind. Major changes from previous RICKTER models include a reduction in length of 2,” tweaks to rail heights and widths and much more pronounced chine lengths and depths. The end result is one of the most versatile and capable hulls on the market. In most cases, when you ramp up the stability and tracking ability of a ski, you loose agility or other performance capabilities, the classic trade-off. Frankly, if there was any loss, we didn’t see it. Check out the video to see it in action, including Mark Gomez and his Motosurf RACE win – on an Edge! One of the most common questions that we get asked is "what does it take to get a ski ready to race?" So when Jet Pilot's Steve Goldberg ran the concept past us of doing a build in preparation for racing in the Hot Products Mark Hahn 300 Memorial Endurance Race at Lake Havasu we were very pleased to be a part of it - both to help with the build and document the outcome. Check out our video to see how a 2016 Yamaha VXR was transformed from a very respectable showroom-stock ride to the podium worthy race craft that propelled Steve and teammate Flyin' Brian Smith to second place in the 4-stroke Naturally Aspirated Open Class of the 2016 MH 300. Eric was arguably the best Personal Watercraft freestyle competitor of the new millennium. Just prior to this interview, Eric had landed a 4th place finish in the 2001 IJSBA World Championships (that’s what the World Finals were called for that single year). Shear disappointment for sure, but he turned it into motivation, rather than devastation. For Eric, life is all about “two minutes of perfection.”

Results in Personal Watercraft Pro Freestyle competition, unlike closed course racing, are not determined by a finish line, but, by a group of judges, and as such, are not always black and white and in fact are controversial more often than not. However, at the 2014 IJSBA World Finals that was not the case as Lee Stone proved convincingly through three standout performances that without question he deserved the world championship.
